Brown Rice

There are several thousand varieties of rice and its cultivation is often associated with Asia, but it also grows successfully in parts of Europe. Much of our rice comes from Italy. Brown rice has only the outer layer, called the hull, removed while the bran layer is left intact.  This helps retain the bulk of the nutrients in the grain and provides key vitamins and minerals without contributing excess fats, sodium or cholesterol.
